It did not take long for Cannondale prepared by Cyclocrossworld.com newcomer Ryan Trebon to get down to business wearing his new team’s colors. Trebon spearheaded a Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com 1-2 finish at the Raleigh Midsummer Night Cyclocross event this past Wednesday in Park City, Utah. Trebon’s first win in green and black was just ahead of teammate Tim Johnson, who opened his season was a strong second place.
The Raleigh Midsummer Night Cyclocross stood as the unofficial opening to the 2012-2013 cyclocross season, taking place in conjunction with the annual Dealer Camp trade show. In 90-degree heat and at an altitude in excess of 7,000 feet, Trebon, Johnson and Jamey Driscoll faced a tough early season challenge well outside the normal cyclocross calendar.
All three Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com riders were up to the challenge, however. By the race’s midway point, the front of the race was dominated by Trebon and Johnson. The one-time rivals keyed off each other, constantly upping the pace, trying to shake the field and one-another.
Before long, it was just Trebon and Johnson left to fight it out for the win. Trebon put in a surge in the later stages of the race, gapping Johnson and riding off to his first win of the 2012-2013 season. Johnson finished a solid second to show that his off-season training regimen is paying dividends.
While just a small glimpse of what is in store in the upcoming cyclocross season, Trebon, Johnson and Driscoll can come away from the Midsummer Night Cyclocross brimming with confidence. With just under 50 days remaining until the season’s kickoff, the Cannondale prepared by Cyclocrossworld.com professional cyclocross team looks to be on top of their game.
