The NACT series headed north of the American border on October 17th and 18th for the GNC Toronto International Cyclocross weekend and with it went Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com riders Tim Johnson, Jeremy Powers, and Jamey Driscoll. The team was riding high after a five-victory weekend in the Ohio Valley and Providence, Rhode Island. Tim, Jeremy and Jamey were eager to keep their winning streak alive and had two chances to do so in Toronto.

Johnson got things started on Saturday, besting Driscoll to the line, and in so doing, taking home a key UCI C1 win. Johnson has been pouring on the speed since he was slowed temporarily with a separated shoulder, and has proven that he’s back to his old self. Driscoll collected another second place and further cemented his reputation as one of the fastest riders in the United States. Powers fell victim to an untimely crash, while leading the race, and fell back in the pack, but managed to fight his way back to eighth. “Jeremy dumped it on the barriers and I nailed him,” said Johnson, “he lost a lot of time before crashing again and ultimately ending up in eighth. After that, Jamey and I rode the rest of the race one-two with an expanding gap”

Sunday was a day of redemption or Powers, as he reversed his fortunes from Saturday, marking his fourth win in two weeks. Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com took home a complete podium sweep with Johnson in second and Driscoll in third. “We were pushing the pace all day, but in the end it became a little more rushed. Speeds were so high that both Powers and Driscoll crashed with only meters left to go in the race. Said Johnson, “We raced all out to the finish. Jeremy crashed first and Jamie then dumped it right after. I had to avoid falling bodies!” Powers was quick on his feet, catching Johnson and powering past him before the two hit the line. Driscoll easily held on or the last step on the podium.

Big thanks for the great hospitality and support of the DeVries family and to Cannondale, who had their big rig full of demo bikes available to the great fans and riders in Toronto.

Next weekend, Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com will head to Louisville, Kentucky for the Derby City Cup, the second stop on the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross Series. “I can’t wait until we have a full domestic field with the Kona boys and the others that will be up front like Geoff Kabush and Todd Wells.”
